Ferguson: Liverpool are serious title contenders

The man who knocked us off our proverbial domestic ‘perch’ has praised the work that Jürgen Klopp has done in just over 12 months at the helm.  The man who managed one of our biggest rivals for over two decades.

He has said Manchester Ciy are favourites but said he expects Liverpool and Spurs to be challenging. Ferguson said “he has done a really good job and revived Liverpool’s enthusiasm” when speaking to German magazine ‘Kicker’.  Ferguson also said that for two decades we haven’t had our own identity (although under Benitez I have to disagree, maybe the fact that Rafa publicly called out Fergie has left a sour taste in his mouth).

Ferguson said that he is impressed by Klopp’s dedication on the sideline and he is convinced that his training sessions are similar, stating that Klopp is a strong personality and at a big club that is vital- notice the words “big club.”

Nice to hear those words coming from the likes of Ferguson, as much as I dislike the guy I have to say I agree with him this time.

Liverpool dispatched with Crystal Palace last weekend after allowing Palace to equalise twice. Some might argue Liverpool were lucky because Palace had both Bolaise and Gayle out injured. Also Christian Benteke was also out to prove a point against his former employers but Joël Matip kept him quiet.

Next up for Liverpool is a home game against high flying Watford. Three points this weekend will keep Liverpool in touch with both Arsenal and Manchester City who sit top of the league. With Liverpool playing impressive fast paced football I’m confident of Liverpool earning another three points at Anfield this weekend.
