Arguably, the turning point of Liverpool’s season is forthcoming when bitter rivals Manchester United visit on Monday night at Anfield.
It’s been an impressive season so far for the Reds, with September seeing the Reds pick maximum points up, and lie fifth in the table, whilst, despite a strong start, Manchester United have stuttered a little, losing two consecutive games to Watford & Manchester City, and recently drew to Stoke City at Old Trafford. So it’s no surprise Liverpool are the favourites going into the game.
But, with the likes of Georgino Wijnaldum due for a scan, for injury picked up on international duty, which side should Klopp start against United at Anfield? Here’s a look at what everyone at The Shankly Way thinks..

I’m going for a similar looking side to the one that beat Swansea, just prior to the international break. A familiar looking backline with Milner, Lovren, Matip & Clyne – but in the midfield, Marko Grujic needs to be given a starting opportunity, with Adam Lallana out injured. Emre Can also should be starting in midfield ahead of the doubtful Georginio Wijnaldum.
Going forward, the same against Swansea. Sadio Mane’s pace and skill earns him a place on the right, and Coutinho trickery and creativity will give him a place on the left wing. Firmino will start up front, with Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi to be settling for a place on the bench.

if everyone was fit I’d have the same starting XI as against Swansea. Team is virtually picking itself and continuity so important.
If there are any more injuries, play Klopp!

(If Lallana and Wijnaldum are out)
Personally I’d go with the same team as Swansea – if everyone’s fit. If not I’d have Can in for Wijnaldum and if Lallana isn’t fit I’d bring Coutinho back in to midfield and play Origi up front with Firmino and Mané.

Karius starts in favour of Migs for me. Won’t surprise anyone but will probably spoil a breakfast in Norway (morning Magne!). He’s Klopp’s guy and I think that we have yet to see his best, was a lot more confident in pre-season games than he has seen here. Perhaps taken a knock in confidence due to the injury breaking up his settling in period. We can’t bin him off after two games.
The back four pretty much picks itself assuming that Clyne is fit: Clyne, Lovren, Matip and Milner all stay in.
Midfield injuries dictate the remainder of the team. Apparently Adam Lallana may make it, if he does then him, Hendo and little Phil Coutinho, dropping back in the absence of my mate George Wjinaldum. If Lallana doesn’t make it, in comes Emre Can. My only issue with Emre coming in would be him keeping things moving and not slowing up play as he sometimes tends to. We beat United with speed in attack I think.
Mane, Bobby F and Daniel Sturridge make up the front three. Can’t see any argument here on the assumption that Phil drops back to the midfield. Just hope that De Gea doesn’t save his best for us as he has seemed to so many times before.
