Liverpool Watford Preview

Liverpool will be looking to get back on track with all three points at Vicarage Road this weekend. The Reds with only two wins in their last five Premier League outings, which has dropped Jürgen Klopp’s men down to ninth in the league.

Regarding Watford, they are sitting seventh in the Premier League and have won their last three league games. Three points for Sanchez Flores’ side would allow them to record successive home wins for the time in the PL.

Team news: Liverpool vice-captain, James Milner will miss the game due to a calf injury. Simon Mignolet will have a late scan before the game, he picked up a hamstring strain this week. Dejan Lovren is also ruled out due to injury, but is set to return against Leicester on Boxing Day. Mamadou Sakho is set to come into the side, replacing the injured Lovren. The French international returns to the side after being out for six weeks with a knee injury. Daniel Sturridge is still out with an injury, and will be out for the next few weeks.

Opts stats: Watford have never won back to back home games in the Premier League.

Liverpool have won eight and lost just one of the last nine meetings with Watford in all competitions.

I’m looking forward to this game, Watford have been great this season, and they’ll be very hard to beat. Although, I think Liverpool may edge with the help of the Brazilian magician, Philipe Coutinho. I think he’ll be on the scoresheet.

I would start Divock Origi instead of Benteke. Origi has been impressive in recent weeks, and looks more of a goal threat than out of form Christian Benteke. With Milner out injured, I expect either Lucas or Lallana to start. It will be interesting to see the team selection.

Form guide:
Watford: WLLWWW
Liverpool: WLWWLD

Last corresponding meeting:
Watford 0-3 Liverpool (Bellamy, Crouch x2)

My prediction: Watford 1-2 Liverpool.

My predicted lineup: Mignolet, Clyne, Skrtel, Sakho, Moreno, Lucas, Emre Can, Henderson, Coutinho, Firmino, Origi.

Fancy a bet? To score and win:
Coutinho @ 11/4.
Origi to score and Liverpool to win @ 9/4.
