Liverpool Sion Preview

Liverpool are set to take on Swiss side FC Sion away from home in their final group game in the Europa League. Liverpool are looking to increase their lead in group B after a victory over Bordeaux in their previous Europa League outing. FC Sion only need a point to qualify for the next stage. Liverpool will be looking to top group B, and as a result they will have an easier draw in the last 32. The 12 group winners from the Europa League, and the four best-performing Champions League drop outs, are seeded. The 12 group runners-up, and the four worst-performing drop outs, are unseeded.

Injury news: Liverpool will be without striker Daniel Sturridge due to a hamstring injury. He is set to miss the next few weeks.

Regarding team news: Lucas Leiva, Joe Allen and Alberto Moreno have not made the trip, while Jordon Ibe is missing through illness. Philippe Coutinho has been included in the squad to face FC Sion, following four matches out with a hamstring injury. Coutinho took full part in training prior to the Reds travelling to Switzerland and is set to feature in the game on Thursday night. A few youngsters are set to be included, such as Connor Randall, Brad Smith and Jordan Rossiter. Liverpool and Jürgen Klopp will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Newcastle at St James’ Park on Sunday.

My predicted line up: Mignolet, Randall, Toure, Lovren, Smith, Emre Can, Henderson, Milner, Firmino, Lallana, Origi.

Prediction: FC Sion 1-1 Liverpool

The Reds’ final group stage fixture will be shown live on BT Sport Europe.
